14963 - The Royal Mummies (the Haddon copy) - G.Elliot Smith This volume was the gift of Dr. Alfred Cort Haddon to the University Museum of Archaeology & of Ethnology, Cambridge. The front end paper and the title bear the university stamp overstamped with the Haddon Library. Dr Haddon FRS. (1855-1940) was one of the founders of modern British anthropology. The volume is case bound in cloth with the original paper covers onlaid. The front cover bears the inscription"Dr Haddon FRS with kind regards, plus an initial" Bearing in mind the provenance this inscription is more likely to be from him, rather than to him. The spine ends are rubbed and the paper onlays are soiled. The end papers are aged and one plate is loose, otherwise clean and very good throughout. Price: £1,250.00 / $2,125.00
